It's not a waterproof coating so it won't protect your work outdoors, it's designed to mattify a painting so if your work is shiny it will make it look flat and matte.

It dries quickly! It'll be touch dry in about 15 minutes if you do a nice thin coat but you should leave it overnight to completely cure.
